Kota Kinabalu: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Raymond Tan said the government will continue its efforts to aggressively promote the State in order to attract more investors.

“The State government, in collaboration with the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, will also organise trade and investment missions to foreign countries. This would be done through the hosting of high-profile international and domestic events,” he said.

He added that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) also play important roles in contributing to gross domestic product (GDP) growth.

“In a market-driven economy like Malaysia, the private sectors play a very important and crucial role in steering the industrial and economic sector as a whole.

“In this respect, SMEs play a prominent role in development of the business value chain and are expected to contribute about 41 per cent to the GDP towards 2020,” he said.

Seasoning product manufacturer Twinine Sdn Bhd was best local company with annual sales of under RM10 million, while the first handmade chocolate maker in Sabah, Simply Chocolate Sdn Bhd, won the category for annual sales of less than RM5 million.
